URGENT : Reconstruction after the earthquake of April 25

By 30/04/2015Uncategorized

Dear donors,

April 25 marks the day that we both shared the same heartache and sadness after hearing about the catastrophic earthquake that struck Nepal.

Madhab Shrestha, our director of operations, has finally been able to get in contact with the principales of each school supported by our association. Out of the 4 schools: Saraswati, in Badal Gaun, has been hit the hardest. More than 2200 people lost their homes; in particular the families of a 100 students and 7 teachers from the school.

Objective : shelter the families of the 100 students and 7 teachers

Our aid will be in the form of building temporary shelters, each with a capacity of 20 people (basically 4 families). An example of these shelters is shown bellow. They will respect all the safety standards and will be linked to two fully functioning toilets that will abide by all the health and hygiene requirements. All the teachers, parents, and families are already volunteering to work on their construction. The cost of establishing these shelters is 16,000€.

Urgent : construction of temporary homes before the monsoon season

We must act swiftly before the arrival of next month’s difficult monsoon season. Therefore, Madhab will visit the school tomorrow to meet the members of the community and layout the initial plan. Furthermore, we will also publish the first photos of the damaged houses.

We are counting on you, who by financially supporting us, will help these families that lost everything. By taking immediate action, we are giving the children the chance to go back to school and study under proper conditions. We, along side all these families, thank you dearly for your support.

By following our “News” section, we will keep you informed with all our latest updates. We herby present to you the project proposition (in French).

Best regards,

Ek Pahila Team
