End of the Janakalyan School project

Dear donors:

Since August 2015, Ek Pahila Foundation partnered with Janakalyan School in the Kavre District which was badly damaged due to the earthquake of April 2015.

The bathroom walls had collapsed and some of the classrooms had been declared prohibited from entry due to the large cracks that appeared as a result of the tremors. Consequently, the students alongside their teachers organised their classes in the outdoors under a make shift bamboo tent. The students and faculty had no other choice but to use the open spaces away from the school as a make shift toilet.

Thanks to the gracious support of our donors, the Foundation was able to reconstruct the bathrooms; installing completely new toilets. The students and the faculty finally have access to proper functioning bathrooms during their time at school.

Another objective of ours was to collect 16 000€ for the reconstruction of the classrooms. During this time, we received the support of l’Association Ouest France Solidarity. Despite our fundraising challenges, we are glad to inform you that another NGO has stepped up their efforts to help further rebuild the school.

We are thrilled to receive this new update, and hence continue our work by reallocating our efforts towards another school; that of Pipaltar village, located 62 kilometres west of Kathmandu: Shree Mahakali School.

The Ek Pahila Foundation team would like to sincerely thank you for all your support and trust.

We are counting on you!

Best regards,

Ek Pahila team
